Bangladesh. Сorn production fell by 2%

Maize production in Bangladesh fell by 2% to 4.8 million tonnes in FY2022/23. The country is experiencing extreme floods that are affecting crops.
As a result, domestic corn prices remain high and in line with high world prices. Wholesale and retail prices in October 2022 were 21% and 33% higher, respectively, compared to the previous year. In view of the high prices, the import of corn is reduced.
In FY 2021/22, imports also fell by 20% compared to the same period last year to 1.95 million tons. Imports will rise to 2.2 million tonnes next year, with most of the supply coming from India.
