Bangladesh has received its first shipment of US corn since 2018, with a consignment of 57,855 tonnes of yellow corn arriving today at Chattogram Port. The delivery marks an important milestone for the country’s grain market and feed industry.

According to a press release from the US Embassy in Dhaka, the corn was harvested in North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota during the 2025/26 crop year. The cargo was shipped from Vancouver, Washington, to Bangladesh.

The shipment opens the first opportunity in eight years for Bangladeshi feed millers to use US-origin corn, which is widely used in poultry and livestock nutrition. The import is expected to help stabilise raw material supplies for the country’s feed and livestock sectors.

US agricultural attaché Erin Covert visited the port to receive the vessel together with representatives of major feed millers, including Nahar Agro Group, Paragon Group and Nourish Poultry and Hatchery Ltd. United Grain Corporation said it looks forward to supplying Bangladesh with US grain in the coming years.
