Australia’s canola exports fell 16% in December
According to the latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, canola exports in December 2024 totalled 593,810 tonnes, down 16% from the previous month (709,430 tonnes in November), Grain Central reports.
The largest markets for the period were Belgium (185,420 tonnes), Germany (125,230 tonnes), France (115,020 tonnes), Pakistan (63,790 tonnes) and Bangladesh (28,970 tonnes).
According to preliminary estimates from Lachstock Consulting, Australia could export 604,000 tonnes of canola in January, while 491,000 tonnes are booked for shipment in February.
The International Grains Council (IGC) estimates that global rapeseed area will increase by 1.4% in 2025/26 compared to the current season, reaching a record 44.1 million hectares.
