Argentina processed a record volume of sunflower seeds in 2023
In December, about 218 thousand tons of sunflower seeds were processed at Argentine oil extraction plants. This is reported by Reuters with reference to data from the industrial chamber CIARA-CEC.
The industry association estimates that the figures were down from December 2022 levels by about 6% from 231,000 tons.
“At the same time, the total volume of processing in 2023 reached a record for the last decade and is estimated at 3.9 million tons,” CIARA-CEC explained.
The chamber also highlighted that 1.9 million tons of Argentine soybeans were also processed in December, while the overall utilization of processing capacity remained unchanged compared to November, at 32%.
