Already 1300 vessels have used the Ukrainian Black Sea corridor
As of April 29, 1300 vessels have used the Black Sea humanitarian corridor created by Ukraine and international partners after Russia’s withdrawal from the grain initiative
Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Sergiy Kyslytsya, said this on Monday, speaking at the roundtable “Political Dialogue – Addressing Global Food Insecurity and Famine Risk: Strengthening Collective Impact” organized by the UN Economic and Social Council.
Kyslytsia emphasized that our agricultural products are delivered via an alternative sea corridor to 40 countries.
“This exceeds the export volume for the entire year of the Black Sea Grain Initiative,” the Permanent Representative said. In total, he said, 25 million tons of Ukrainian farmers’ products were exported from the ports of Pivdennyi, Odesa and Chornomorsk. He also explained that exports from these ports have reached pre-war levels.
“We are consistently working to increase the capacity of all corridors,” Kyslytsia emphasized.
In addition, it was noted that about 400 million people in the world depend on Ukrainian food exports.
“Even in these difficult times, we are ready to defend our role as a guarantor of global food security,” the diplomat said. – “The humanitarian program Grain from Ukraine is a worthy illustration of this.”
