Algeria purchased up to 600-700 thsd tons of wheat, mainly from the Black Sea region

On May 15, 2025, the Algerian state-owned company OAIC held an international tender for the purchase of soft wheat of any origin. According to European traders, from 600 to 700 thousand tons of wheat were purchased at a price of approximately $244.5 per ton on a C&F basis (including cost and freight).
Wheat shipments are scheduled for July 1–15 and July 16–31, 2025, if the grain is of European or Black Sea origin. In the case of supplies from South America or Australia, the dates are moved up a month earlier. Wheat of French origin was excluded from the tender.
Traders note that the main volume of purchases fell on the countries of the Black Sea region, in particular the Russian Federation, Romania, and, probably, Ukraine. The tender indicates high competition from Black Sea suppliers in the new season.
