Algeria plans to achieve self-sufficiency in durum wheat
Algeria plans to achieve self-sufficiency in durum wheat by the end of 2025, President Abdelmajid Tebboun said. He added that the country does not plan to import barley in 2026. This was reported by Reuters news agency.
Algeria is a major importer of wheat and barley. The US Department of Agriculture forecasts that Algeria will import 9 million tons of milling and durum wheat and 700,000 tons of barley in the current season (July-June)
