ADM and Mitsubishi explore agricultural collaboration

Archer Daniels (ADM) and Mitsubishi (MC) announced that they have signed a written agreement to form a strategic alliance to explore potential areas of future collaboration in the agricultural value chain. Building on their long-term relationship, ADM and MC will now explore potential new ways to combine their strengths to address these global challenges.
“The importance of robust and sustainable food and agricultural supply chains has become increasingly evident in recent years, driven by both short-term challenges and structural changes in demand caused by global population growth, economic development, and growing consumer preference for products from sustainable sources,” the companies said in a statement on March 27.
To address these challenges, it has become necessary to implement an integrated and cross-sector approach that brings together multiple businesses across multiple segments.
Based in Chicago, Illinois, ADM is one of the world’s largest food and agricultural products companies, while MC, based in Tokyo, Japan, offers a cross-industry business platform spanning multiple industries, including food and energy, the companies said.
Building on their long-standing relationship, the companies said they hope their breadth and depth of experience will enable them to add value by identifying new opportunities to meet global needs, from a robust biofuels supply chain to a stronger, more sustainable global food system.
“Together, ADM and MC are committed to creating value and delivering solutions that will help shape the future of the global agricultural value chain,” the companies said.
