Abnormal weather may affect harvest in Ukraine

The harvest in Ukraine in 2025 will start earlier than usual and the reason for this is anomalous weather conditions. This was stated by the head of the Cherkasy Regional Hydrometeorological Center, Vitaliy Postryhan, writes “Telegraph”.
According to him, the spring and early summer of 2025 have shifted the usual agricultural calendars. Because of this, Ukrainian farmers have to go out into the fields in June. Postryhan said that the harvest started in the south of Ukraine, which is almost three weeks earlier than the average. This is due to the spring-summer drought, which accelerated the ripening of early bread.
Postryhan said that the harvest will be delayed if there is rain and cold temperatures. In dry and hot weather, the harvest will take place faster. He warned that for each day of delay, farmers will lose about 3% of the harvest. “The grain has already reached milky, and in some places waxy ripeness – a week earlier than normal. Agrometeorological conditions, the condition of crops and forecasts indicate that it is necessary to be ready for the start of the harvest in most areas of Ukraine from the beginning of July. This year, world weather centers predict a hot and dry summer for Ukraine. This means that harvesting must be carried out as soon as possible to prevent grain from falling and minimize losses,” said Postryhan.
