4.8 mln tons of wheat remain in Kazakhstan from last season
National statistics updated data on the availability of grain in the granaries of enterprises. According to official data, as of August 1, the country has 5.7 million tons of grain and legumes.
As of the specified period, Kazakhstan has over 4.8 million tons of wheat, including almost 4.4 million tons suitable for food purposes. Hard wheat reserves amount to more than 297 thousand tons, of which approximately 255 thousand tons are food hard wheat.
In addition, there are the following volumes of other crops: corn – 48 thousand tons, rice – 87 thousand tons, barley – 505 thousand tons, rye – 18 thousand tons, oats – 96 thousand tons, buckwheat – 39 thousand tons.
The bulk of grain is concentrated in the country’s regions: the largest volume is in the Akmola region (over 1.3 million tons), Kostanay region (1.1 million tons) and North Kazakhstan region (over 1.5 million tons).
From January to May 2025, wheat exports reached 3.2 million tons, while imports amounted to 212 thousand tons.
In addition to wheat, Kazakhstani producers sent significant quantities of barley (910 thousand tons), corn (73 thousand tons), rice (47 thousand tons) and oats (10 thousand tons) to foreign markets.
It is worth noting that at the beginning of July, the total wheat reserve in the country was estimated at 5.6 million tons.
