Ukraine remains a reliable partner in supplying crops to the African continent
The maritime corridor of the ports of Greater Odesa is working and Ukraine remains a reliable partner for the supply of orders of all types of crops to African countries. 65% of agricultural products grown in Ukraine are exported.
This was announced by Taras Vysotskyi, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, during the Ukraine-Africa 2024 Agricultural Forum.
The forum was opened by Minister of Agrarian Policy Vitaliy Koval. The event was also attended by Deputy Minister Oksana Osmachko. The event was moderated by Ihor Melnyk, Deputy Head of the Department for International Cooperation and European Integration of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
“Ukraine understands its role in ensuring food security. At the beginning of 2022, when the supply process from Ukraine was interrupted, global food prices rose by 35%. This is a very big increase, which shows the importance of Ukrainian food for the world. It is very important for us that food is sent to the places where it is needed. We are always ready to work together with our partners in the areas of technology development, irrigation and soil analysis. We are ready to adapt these technologies to the needs of our African colleagues,” said Taras Vysotskyi.
The Ukraine-Africa Forum brought together online representatives of 21 African countries, Ukrainian agricultural producers, and relevant government agencies. In particular, the event was attended by representatives of Gambia, Cape Verde, Guinea, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Botswana, Ghana, Egypt and other countries.
