Ukraine. HarvEast launches seed line in Donetsk region
On October 18, HarvEast launched a refinement seed line with a capacity of 8 MT per hour. Universal seed line of Danish company Cimbria was established by agricultural holding on the territory of former oil press plant located in Nikolsky district of Donetsk region. Together with a line for seeds processing, a quality control laboratory started working. Before the end of 2018, the plant will be reconstructed; an elevator with a storage capacity of 9 th m3 will be also put into operation on its territory.
In 2019, after an increase in production capacities, the plant will refine wheat, sunflower, pulses and corn seeds for both HarvEast needs and customers, reports UkrAgroConsult.
As a reminder, in 2017, HarvEast began to develop its seed business from sunflower seeds hybridization project for the company MAS Seeds. Already in 2018, the agricultural holding expanded cooperation with its French partner to three projects, and started growing seeds for Euralis Semences, DuPont Pioneer and Alta Seeds. Introduction of irrigation systems on 1100 ha of land in Donetsk region provided guaranteed high-quality seed.
HarvEast will create 25 jobs to service seed capacities in Donetsk region and will invest about USD 3.5 million in the further development of seed business.
