Ukraine. Crop condition is largely good and fair

Weather conditions. Variable weather with temperature swings between night and day dominated the country earlier this month. The average daily air temperature in most regions was 1-5°С below normal, at 16-23°С. The highest air temperature was recorded at 17-31°С and the lowest one bottomed out at 9-16°С.

Moisture supply. In corn fields, the level of productive moisture in the 0-100 cm soil layer remained predominantly fair (81-109 mm) and adequate (126-160 mm) in the west, most parts of Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia regions, locally in Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Kirovohrad, Kherson and Donetsk regions. The topsoil (0-20 mm) in sugar beet fields contained insufficient amounts of productive moisture (at most 4 mm). In most sunflower plantings, productive moisture content in the topsoil was poor (1-10 mm).

Crop condition is largely good and fair, reports UkrAgroConsult. The worst impact of dryness on corn and sunflower productivity is observed in early-planted fields and in earlier-season hybrids, which developed at the expense of moisture accumulated in the fall and winter.
