Romania. Farmers plant rapeseed and barley
Weather conditions. Air temperatures in Romania stayed at +15..+28°C, or 4..6°C above long-term normals.
Moisture supply. No effective precipitation occurred this past week – an extremely unfavorable factor for development of winter crops.
Weather forecast for September 15-22: increased air temperatures will persist in the country (+15..+26°С, or 2..4°C above normal), precipitation is only expected locally in the southwest – this will further aggravate the soil moisture deficit.
Farmers keep harvesting corn, finish sunflower harvest, and plant winter rape and barley. Due to precipitation deficits, a number of growers have given up on planting winter rape in favor of grains, UkrAgroConsult reports.
