Rapeseed remains the most profitable oilseed for Ukrainian farmers
Rapeseed will remain the most profitable oilseed in MY 2018/19, outstripping soybeans and sunflower seed. Such preliminary calculations were made by Agritel.
Rapeseed growers in Ukraine enjoy a high margin of profit (62%) owing to both record yield (2.85 MT/ha, according to USDA) and high prices underpinned by active demand from the EU, reports UkrAgroConsult.
Record output – 2.85 MMT – translated into high exports of this commodity from Ukraine, including almost 90% shipped to the EU. According to Agritel’s forecasts, EU rapeseed production in MY 2019/20 may fall to 18 MMT that would raise imports of the product to a record (5.5 MMT) and prop up its prices.
